Our search for Britain’s tastiest cricket tea is underway!

We’ve picked four favourites in our Great Cricket Tea Challenge – and they’ll be facing off at Lord’s later this month for the chance to win a brand new £10,000 kitchen.

Here’s our guide to the finalists:

Rocklands

"Legendary" chocolate cake and homemade Scotch eggs are but a tiny sample of the delights on offer at Rocklands Cricket Club in Norfolk.

But that's not all! Apparently the team has a pair of royal lookalikes: a Prince Harry and a Prince William.

Of course it's the food that impresses us the most. We especially like the sound of the brilliant Battenburg, the "moist, squidgy apricot and coconut cake" and the "mean meringue with kiwi"!

Great Habton

A new kitchen would be well received at Great Habton Cricket Club in North Yorkshire, not least because (as they wrote in their entry) "WE HAVE NOT GOT A KITCHEN - just a gas for the kettle to brew Yorkshire Tea!"

That doesn't stop them from offering up a range of lovely food, though. Homemade quiches, cheese and apple sandwiches and their secret weapon: the Habton's heavenly feather-light lemon cream cake. Yum!

Corbridge

Fancy a slice of cricket pie? Well at Corbridge Cricket Club in Northumberland, you can sink your teeth into succulent corned beef and potato or tasty cheese and onion baked inside a pastry crust, decorated with signature stumps, bat and balls.

It's the Corbridge Angels who entered our challenge - the club's women's team, who make plenty of use of the kitchen for match day teas and Sunday morning bacon sarnies. But though the club is over 100 years old, they say: "Quite frankly so is the kitchen."

Hyde

Cajun chicken drumsticks. Rosemary and thyme spiced wedges. Banana and honey smoothies. Hungry yet?

And that's not even the show stealer. Nope - the true star at the centre of Hyde Cricket Club's teas are the wraps: chicken tikka with cucumber and mint mayonnaise, or prawn and avocado with Marie Rose sauce.

These four finalists will now face off for a day of final judging in The Long Room at Lord’s – and the competition will feature on The Test Highlights Show on Channel 5 during the Investec Ashes Series, with the cricket tea expert Michael Vaughan, among the judges.
